written in C++.
- 03/06/99: Descent
Manager DSPY32 Beta 02 is out! A lot of new functionality, like monitoring

- 12/19/98: The Descent
Developer Network is searching for help to finalize the D1/D2 file specs, so that they
are complete when D3 finally comes out and so we can fully concentrate on D3 work. If you
like to help, please eMail us! Some ideas what
you can do are listed on the DDN pages.
- 12/19/98: Read about some new DNet members, who joined DNet in the last months:
DIOCON: Very good level designer. Working on our current project.
TOPHER: C/C++ Programmer. Specializes on writing DLLs for Descent Manager Tools.
VYPER: C/C++ Programmer. Recently released Descent Manager SERVMAN32.
MIKE: Mike Menefee founded DDN together with me back in July '97. Now we finally added him
as a C/C++ programmer for Descent Manager Tools. Working on the HOG editor currently.
With 7 programmers now in the team (the three above, plus Garry Knudson, Steve Klinger,
John Hanton and me) I decided to make Steve Klinger a "Senior Programmer", since
alone it wouldn't be possible to organize and handle all the projects anymore :).
- 12/19/98: Moved January 1998 to July 1998 News to the News Archives.
- 12/13/98: Posted about 400 levels to the D2 Archives. Easily downloadable with Descent Manager DETLEF32. All with author

- 11/27/98: Yes, guys. Its out! Descent 3 Demo is out!!

web-site. http://www.descent-3.com is dedicated for
all kinda of D3 stuff. Thanks must go out to Kevin "Sick_One" Murphy, for
helping us financing it!
- 11/07/98: Added some resource lists at the Descent Developer Network.
- 11/05/98: The new D3 trailer is out. Download it here.
- 11/04/98: Descent Manager ROBOT CONSTRUCTION KIT
Beta 03b is out, featuring HAXMEDIT32 Beta 06c with a totally revised editor (we consider
it very bug-free, fast, stable and reliable now) and the all-new tool POLVIEW32 Beta 01 by Steve Klinger to texture
your bots easily. Of course all the latest fixes and addons for RCK03 are now integrated
into RCK03b, including the DLL problem, that encountered in HAXMEDIT Beta 06b, the
HAXMEDIT manual, the German POLYTRON manual and more! Download it now!
- 11/04/98: As you might or might not know, we recently
"hired" (<- hey, I like this word, even though it can be misunderstood, we do
NOT pay anyone) two artists into Descent Network Team. Both of them make such awesome work
that they now have the status of "Senior 3D artist" in DNet. Both have their own page on descent2.com and
present their art there, so please have a look at them both:
EMUS: His art is just incredible, you can't really describe it. He mixes elements that do
not really fit together into one picture in such a way, that it looks like such different
things belong together since the begining of mankind. Various Descent Manager modules
already have splash screen made by him (DSPY32, Dirty Little Downloader 32, POLVIEW32).
Please have a look at his gallery Graficia
and you might understand why many call him "genius" :)!
EAGLESPIRIT: His impatience is his strength! I wouldn't know better I would believe his
day has at least 48 hours, because he does so many things at once, that both NT and UNIX
multitasking is ridiculous. He can be used universally for ANY art job that you can think
off. His biggest problem: "Why aren't the others as fast as me :)?" Have a look
at his great work at Flying Mysteries!
Both are currently working on the biggest project yet done by DNet. So far I only want to
tell one thing about it: It will rock!
- 10/29/98: Descent
Manager HAXMEDIT32 Beta 06b is now available. Fixes some bad bugs in the
version bundled with RCK03, especially the editor! Also has some very cool new features!
Note that it is downloadable and runable as a standalone version right now. While RCK03 is
not required you still should download the full RCK03 if you didn't already.
- 10/26/98: Great news: The upcoming PyroPimps show is
featuring an interview with Craig Derrick, the producer of Descent 3. You don't know what
the PyroPimps is? Take a look and hear yourself through our complete PyroPimps show archives!

FAQ V0.30 released!
- 10/24/98: Uploaded a new Descent WinAMP skin: ScorchAMP by Scorch.
- 10/19/98: Due to some temporary misconfiguration the
navigation bars on the top of the pages disappeared on most of the pages. We are aware of
that problem, but currently do not have the time to fix it :(. Sorry about that, we hope
you can get to the pages you want/need via the other links in the meantime, if not, eMail us and we'll send you the direct link! We will
fix the bars as soon as possible!
- 10/08/98: Meta Creations elected a rendered Descent-picture
from DNet-member Emus as the image of the day.
Congratulations!
- 10/05/98: A bugfix for DETLEF32 has been posted. Please read the Known Bugs page about this. If you do not
encounter this bug, there is no need for you to update from Beta 02 to Beta 02b, unless
you want to be fully uptodate :) or you want to have Dirty Little Downloader Beta 02,
which has a lot of handy little news. The update is called "DETLEF Beta 02b" and
only works if you have DETLEF Beta 02 already installed.
- 10/04/98: There is now a German manual for Descent Manager
POLYTRON32 (499 kB) available. Special thanks to Markus
Pinl for the great translation!
- 10/02/98: Descent
Manager DSPY32 now finally has its own homepage with some screenshots etc. A
stand-alone version is coming soon, so far you have to download DETLEF Beta 02 to get
DSPY32! With DSPY32 you can look what network games are running on LAN/Kali/Kahn and check
their complete kill stats and more...

game information and much more; DSpy is also the first DM module that was fully written in
C++ and is so VERY fast!), and the new DETLEF manual by Jeff "ZappaFan" Guynn!

as a standalone tool. Note 2) The Beta 02 versions of the DETLEF Server Tools are

but due to server space problems there we are now serving the archive with the old shows.
