D2_3Dfx is the unofficial version for 3Dfx cards, coded by Andy Hanson from 3Dfx Interactive. They are newer than D2Voodoo and under normal circumstances to be prefered. Notes:
- These patches run only if you have a system with at least 32 MB physical memory!
- They are considered unofficial, since they are not approved by neither Interplay Productions nor Parallax Software. The programmer of these patches is Andy Hanson from 3Dfx Interactive.
- If you have a Voodoo 1 card, all patches will run.
- If you have a Voodoo 2, Voodoo 3, Voodoo Rush or a Voodoo Banshee card, V1.05b and higher will run.
- All patches require that you patch to V1.2 first. Get the patch to V1.2 here!
- All patches require the newest Glide drivers for your card.
- All patches are DOS executables, running fine under Win9x. None of these patches will run under Windows NT.
- V1.06b fixes an assertion failure that crashed the game in some levels (e.g. Midgard 5) in V1.01b, V1.02b and V1.05b.

Update to V1.2 - required for D2_3Dfx
These are the original official patches for
3Dfx Voodoo cards. Notes:
- These patches only require 16 MB of system RAM to run.
- These patches are considered official, since they were written by Parallax Software and released by Interplay Productions.
- Release 1 will only run under Win9x, although its a DOS executable.
- Release 1 does not support add-on levels made with the DEVIL level-editor.
- All patches require that you patch to V1.2 first. Get the patch to V1.2 here!
- D2Voodoo hangs for a second when somebody shots with the Omega. It also slows down when picking up powerups.
- With Voodoo 2 the colors will be wrong. This can be fixed with some DOS environment variables.
- There has been no tests with Voodoo 2, Voodoo 3, Voodoo Rush or Voodoo Banshee cards. Simply use D2_3Dfx for them.
- Since D2_3Dfx has less bugs, more features and looks a lot better, you should download D2_3Dfx instead, unless you don't have 32 MB of RAM or more.
